Review what product? Aug 25, 2010 Come on Amazon...how can I review a product that you were unable to deliver? I ordered the egg cooker in mid-July. Your carrier(Preston)shipped it in error from their Meadville, PA terminal (20 miles south of my delevery address)to their Ironton, OH terminal in southern Ohio. There it sat, and sat, and sat for weeks untill it was returned to Amazion's Redemption Center, whatever that is. All the while this was goin on, Amazon's only acton was to advise me that the egg cooker was shipped in error and tell me to chill and wait another ten days to avoid a double shippment. Finally, a month after I placed the order, Amazon issued a credit to my card and told me that I would have to reorder the Item. I did reorder but not through Amazon. I received the egg cooker in less than a week at a price 30% lower than Amazon's price.
I do anawful lot of business with or through Amazon and in my prior experience I've always found Amazon to be on top of their game. But this time Amazon, you dropped the ball big time. And now, to add insut to injury, you have the nerve to ask me to review the transaction...look it up. You gave me nothing to review!
WOW!!! WHAT A BREEZE...... Aug 14, 2010 My husband eats a lot of hard boiled eggs during the week and of course, the little wife was in charge of boiling up a batch every couple of days. Well, what I hated about that was....having to take a pot out, fill it with water, wait for ever until it boiled, and never knowing what the best timing would be for a perfect hard boiled egg.
This egg cooker solved all of my problems. You just add water following the labeled levels for soft, medium or hard eggs, pin hole eggs (round side up) and push the on button and wait. PERFECT EGGS EVERY TIME. No lost egg white with shell. And I make two poached eggs every morning and the clean up is fairly easy. We are in love and as silly as it sounds, will never go back to the traditional way of boiling eggs as long as these egg cookers are around. Thanks.
egg breakers Aug 11, 2010 The sharp pointed egg breaker broke away immediately. When I try to hard boil eggs following directions exactly the eggs are not hard boiled.
This cooker rocks! Jul 24, 2010 This cooker is the only way that I've found to hard boil Costco eggs where the shells come off so easy and simple.
Every other way I've tried and let me tell you I've tried them all, the shells stick and chip.
Use it all the time, set it and your on your way with the auto shut off feature. Great for my low carb eating plan.
Buy it and Love it!
Easy peel eggs. FINALLY!!!! Jul 08, 2010 Now, an egg cooker is hardly a kitchen necessity, what with the ability to easily boil water on the stove top, right? Right. But this handy cooker might sway your opinion on that. I bought this product after having read other positive reviews (thanks, reviewers!). I have now owned this cooker for almost two years and it's time for me to throw my hat into the ring.
The Oster egg cooker makes eggs both foolproof AND easy to peel... the reason I shelled out money for it. Making deviled eggs for a party of 50 people? Need to quickly make egg salad for 10? EASY! Before buying this product, I mostly made hard-boiled eggs when I HAD to (read: Easter). And I would curse under my breath as I would make a mess of the eggs while peeling them. With this cooker, each egg is peeled in SECONDS. I don't know if it has to do with the cooker itself or with pricking it on the tray before you cook (in the center of the cook tray, there is a sharp pointy thing for pricking). In any case, my pre-schooler can peel a perfect egg and the eggs are all perfectly cooked. Yolks are yellow and fluffy, with no dark at the edges.
As far as other types of eggs made in the cooker, I have used the poacher with great success. Spray first with non-stick spray! The tray has room to poach four eggs. I recommend toasting up some english muffins, heating some vegetarian (or not) sausage patties, and making breakfast sandwiches with these perfectly-sized eggs. Makes a filling breakfast or a quick dinner.
The bottom of the egg cooker is clearly marked with the appropriate water level for the different types of eggs you might make (poached, soft or hard-boiled). It might take a few tries for you to get the water level perfectly to your liking for soft-boiled and poached eggs. Some people like runnier yolks than others.
The biggest room for improvement here is a beeper for when the eggs are done cooking. The button pops out, but unless you are in the kitchen when it pops AND your home is as quiet as a monastery, you'll never hear it. If you don't get your eggs out quickly after the button pops, they will overcook. My solution has been to set a kitchen timer for 23 minutes for hard-boiled eggs and less for poached. That way I get them out quickly.
Another thing to note: if you use this cooker to make Easter eggs for dyeing, you NEED TO clean it thoroughly between each batch of eggs. If you do not, it creates a brown rim around the bottom of each egg, which detracts from your beautifully dyed eggs.
Wonder if you have enough space for yet another kitchen appliance? This one is TINY. I keep it tucked into a cabinet when not in use. I have never had any problem with it not turning off, BTW.
Buy this cooker! It will make your life easier!
